Nectar Recipe:

• Dissolve 1/4 cup white sugar in 1 cup hot water.
• Allow the solution to cool completely.
• Fill the feeder.
• Insert stopper firmly in the bottom of the feeder.

Notes:

• DO NOT make solution stronger.
• DO NOT use honey.

SPECIAL CARE is required to not harm the birds.  You MUST clean the feeder weekly with hot water without detergent. 

Feeders should be put up in late March (when trees begin to leaf), and taken down a month before the first frost. 

Red flowers will attract hummers and provide a natural compliment to your feeder.  Initially, a red ribbon bow can be tied to the plastic tip to attract birds to your feeder.  Once they are feeding, you can remove the ribbon.  The following year(s), the ribbon is not necessary. 

When the hummers return, they will come to the prior year’s feeder location and hound you daily until you put the feeder up!!  Also, these birds are fearless and will come very close to you even where there is quiet activity..
